Creating a screen list directly from our Screens Map preview allows you to visually explore and select screens based on geographic locations, making it ideal for campaigns that require precise audience targeting. This article provides a step-by-step guide to help you create a custom screen list.
Key Points to Keep in Mind Before You Begin:
Deals: All publishers, except Ocean Outdoor (via market Vistar), require deals to access their inventory. All standard deals for Nordic publishers are already included by default in every BidTheatre account.
When using a media list that contains a mix of suppliers, only inventory that requires deals will be prioritized. As a result, Ocean Outdoor inventory will not be prioritized in these mixed lists.
If you want to include Ocean Outdoor inventory in your campaign, create a separate media list containing only Ocean Outdoor screens.
Publisher Segmentation: You may notice that some publishers appear more than once in the Supplier filter. This is because the publisher makes the same inventory available through multiple SSPs. In the example below, Bauer Media Outdoor is available through both Vistar and Broadsign.
Although these appear as separate suppliers in BidTheatre, they represent the same physical screens. Since the inventory is supplied through different SSPs, each screen is assigned a unique Screen ID in the platform. This means that the total number of screens may appear to be roughly double, even though the underlying inventory is the same. To see the actual number of available screens, we recommend filtering by a single Supplier or Market (SSP).Best Practice: We recommend selecting screens from one SSP only for each publisher. Mixing SSPs for the same publisher does not provide access to additional inventory or lower prices, as the available screens and pricing are the same across SSPs. Using a single SSP also reduces the possibility of bidding against yourself, since the winning bid is determined by the SSP with the highest bid.
1. Navigate to the Map Preview:
Go to Supply --> Screens --> Click on Map Preview:
2. Navigate the Map:
Zoom In: Click on the black dots representing screen clusters. Each click will zoom in further, providing a more detailed view of screen locations. You can also use the plus (+) and minus (-) symbols in the left corner of the map.
The more you zoom in, the more detailed the view becomes, eventually allowing you to see the exact location of each individual screen on the map. You can also use the filter function (the funnel icon) to search for a specific city, instantly focusing on the location you're interested in:
Before Selecting Screens - Filter by Supplier
In this example, we’ll create a list with screens from JCDecaux only. Start by filtering by the desired supplier using the filter icon:
3. Select Screens:
Cluster Selection: To select multiple screens at once, click on a cluster to select all screens within that area. This is especially useful for efficiently covering a broader geographic area.
Individual Selection: Once zoomed in, you can select individual screens by clicking "Select Screen".
After selecting all the screens you wish to include, click the "Add Screens" button at the top right corner above the map view.
This will give you the option to add the screens to an existing screen list or create a new one. Click "Add" to confirm:
Your screen list is now ready and can be found by navigating to Supply --> Media List, under the Account Media List tab.
4. Final Step - Link a Deal to Your Screen List
As mentioned earlier, all suppliers, except for Ocean Outdoor, offer their inventory exclusively through deals. Therefore, it's often necessary to link a deal to your screen list.
All standard deals for Nordic publishers are already included by default in every BidTheatre account. If you are using the standard Nordic deals, skip section 4.1 and continue directly to 4.2 - Link the Deal to Your Screen List.
If you have a custom account-specific deal, first complete 4.1 - Add the Deal, then continue with 4.2.
4.1 - Add the Deal (One Time Only)
Upload your deal by navigating to Supply -> Deals -> New Deal and filling in your details as follows:
Important: Uncheck the "Auto sync to Media List" box. When creating a custom screen list, it is crucial to uncheck this box to prevent all the deal’s screens from automatically syncing into your list. We recommend naming the deal clearly to indicate that it does not use the auto-sync feature.
4.2 - Link the Deal to Your List (Every time you create a custom screen list)
Locate your screen list via Supply -> Media List.
On the same row, click on Deals:
Click the Add Deals button, select your deal, and click Add Deals again to link the deal to your list:
Standard deals are usually named based on the type of inventory they contain and the SSP providing the inventory. If you're unsure which deals to use - reach out to your Customer Success Manager for assistance.
Now your screen list is ready to be added and used in your campaign!
