Screen List - Custom Screen Lists

Written by Jennie Edvinsson

If you wish to run a campaign exclusively on specifically selected screens, it is possible to create custom screen lists tailored to your campaign needs. However, there are some important considerations to keep in mind:

  • Deals: Most publishers require deals to access their inventory, with Ocean Outdoor being the primary exception. The most common standard DOOH deals are already available by default in all BidTheatre accounts. If you are missing access to a specific deal or publisher, please reach out to Support for further assistance.

  • Publisher Segmentation: You can mix multiple publishers within the same screen list as long as they all require deals. Publishers that do not require deals (e.g. Ocean Outdoor) must be placed in a separate screen list, as the platform prioritises deal-based inventory within a mixed list.

  • Best Practice: While it is possible to combine multiple publishers in a single screen list, we recommend separating publishers into individual screen lists where practical. This gives you greater flexibility to optimize each publisher independently, as floor prices and inventory characteristics often vary. Separate screen lists make it easier to adjust bid prices, prioritise specific publishers, and fine-tune campaign performance.

How to Create a Custom Screen List

Follow these steps to create your custom screen list:

1. Go to Supply -> Media Lists -> New Media List.

Choose an name for your media list and set the following options:

  • Type: "Screens".

  • Status: "Active".

2. Click "Create Media List".

3. Filter Screens
After creating your media list, close the current view to return to the underlying view where all screens that BidTheatre has access to will be displayed.

Click the Filter icon (the funnel) to refine the list of available screens.

Use the available filters to quickly find the inventory you need:

  • Market – Filter by SSP (e.g. Broadsign, VIOOH, Vistar)

  • Supplier – Filter by publisher (e.g. Clear Channel, JCDecaux, Bauer Media)

  • City – Search for a specific city using free text

  • Country – Show screens from a specific country

Select the desired screens and click Add Screens to add them to your media list.

Multiple Suppliers for the Same Publisher

NOTE - You may notice that some publishers appear more than once in the Supplier filter. This is because the publisher makes the same inventory available through multiple SSPs. In the example below, Bauer Media Outdoor is available through both Vistar and Broadsign.

Although these appear as separate suppliers in BidTheatre, they represent the same physical screens. Since the inventory is supplied through different SSPs, each screen is assigned a unique Screen ID in the platform. This means that the total number of screens may appear to be roughly double, even though the underlying inventory is the same. To see the actual number of available screens, we recommend filtering by a single Supplier or Market (SSP).

Best Practice: We recommend selecting screens from one SSP only for each publisher. Mixing SSPs for the same publisher does not provide access to additional inventory or lower prices, as the available screens and pricing are the same across SSPs. Using a single SSP also reduces the possibility of bidding against yourself, since the winning bid is determined by the SSP with the highest bid.

4. Add Screens to Your List

  • Select all the screens you wish to add to your media list.

  • Click the Add Screens button to include the selected screens.

5. Final Step - Link a Deal to Your Screen List
Most DOOH inventory requires a deal to be accessible. However, all standard deals for Nordic publishers are already included by default in every BidTheatre account.

  • If you are using the standard Nordic deals, skip section 5.1 and continue directly to 5.2 - Link the Deal to Your Screen List.

  • If you have a custom account-specific deal, first complete 5.1 - Add the Deal, then continue with 5.2.

5.1 - Add the Deal (One Time Only)
Add your deal via Supply -> Deals -> New Deal and fill in your details as follows:

Important: Uncheck the "Automatically Create & Update Media List" box. When creating a custom screen list, it is crucial to uncheck this box to prevent all the deal’s screens from automatically syncing into your list. We recommend naming the deal clearly to indicate that it does not use the auto-sync feature.

5.2 - Link the Deal to Your List - (Every time you create a custom screen list)
Locate your screen list via Supply -> Media List. On the same row, click on Deals:

Then, click the Add Deals button, select your deal / deals, and click Add Deals again to link the deals to your list:

Standard deals are usually named based on the type of inventory they contain and the SSP providing the inventory. If you're unsure which deals to use - reach out to your Customer Success Manager for assistance.

Now your screen list is ready to be added and used in your campaign!

Add Your Screen List to a Campaign

In the final step of the campaign setup, add your custom screen list to the campaign:

  1. Click the New Bid Strategy button.

  2. Find your screen list by searching for it in the Media Lists field.

Note: Even if you have created a custom screen list, a campaign must always have a Geo Target. It is recommended to select the entire country as the Geo Target. The campaign will only be displayed on the selected screens in the list, ensuring precise targeting.
