Creating the campaign.

Start by clicking "New Campaign" on the homepage.

Fill in the Campaign name, Advertiser, and Campaign manager fields. Choose "Custom Campaign" and click "Create campaign."

Settings

You will now be redirected to the campaign's Setup page. The first step is to choose the Spend Model.

Add the campaign’s Click Target URL (Landing page).

If you want to use UTM tracking, you can create it here: GA Dev Tools

Choose the Campaign KPI: If unsure, we recommend "Clicks."

Categorize the campaign: This won’t affect where or to whom the ad is shown, but it's needed for publishers with blocks on certain categories.

Save and move to the next section: Schedule.

Schedule

In Schedule, decide the Delivery Priority for the campaign: For a normal campaign, we recommend "Even Delivery."

Scroll down to Flights and click "Add Flight."

Start with the campaign's Start Date.

Then, add the End Date.

Change the Delivery Unit if desired: This option allows the campaign to stop at a metric other than a total budget. However, we recommend "Budget" to keep spending precise in the account’s currency.

Add the budget amount and click "Create."

Don't forget to save.

Ad creatives

Then, move to the next step: Ad creatives. Here you can drag and drop your creatives.

This works for every type of ad except native; for native creatives, follow this guide: Setting up Native Creatives - Step by Step

When that is done the creatives will appear like below:

Optional step: Select the creatives using the checkbox on the left, then click "Actions" and choose "Bulk edit." This allows you to:

Make the creatives secure if they aren’t.

Set a Date range if you wish to schedule a specific ad.

Set a Click Target URL for the selected creatives.

Ad groups

Next step: Ad Groups. This can be done in two ways:

First option: Select the creatives in the Ad creatives section, click "Actions," and choose "Add to 'Default ad group."

Second option: Go to the Ad Groups section and click the edit pen. Then select the creatives you want to assign.

You also have the option to set a Max CPM for a specific creative.

To separate creatives into different ad groups for A/B testing, click "New ad group" and assign them as described above.

Bid strategies

Final step: Bid Strategies. Start with Default Geo Target:

Choose an option from the list (public geo targets and previously created targets are available), or create a new one by clicking the plus sign.

Default Max CPM: If unsure, we recommend starting at 50 SEK, but you can adjust this as desired.

Optional step: Default Audience, which has three options:

Option A: Select a public or previously created one in the dropdown.

Option B: Click "Available audiences" (in blue).

Option C: Create your own custom audience by pressing the plus sign on the right.

Next, select the filter: You can choose an existing one or create your own by removing the default filter and clicking the plus sign on the right of the dropdown.

Choose a Default Optimization Strategy: This option allows you to automatically exclude underperforming sites from your campaign. Select a level that aligns with your goals; for example, "Viewability" is a suitable choice if Clicks is your Campaign KPI, as it optimizes your campaign based on both metrics.

Bid Strategies: Start by clicking "New Bid Strategy."

Select your ad group.

Select your Media List(s). You can find your media lists in the dropdown or under "Available Media Lists" (in blue).

When done, click "Create." The first strategy is now complete.

Add additional strategies if desired to test various Ad Groups, Media Lists, Audiences, etc. In this example, let's create a second strategy with a different Media List and CPM.

In this example, the strategy also has Target Share (%): This is a way to prioritize a strategy so the campaign will try to spend a specific percentage of the budget on that strategy.

All sections should now display a checkmark, indicating they're complete. Start the campaign by clicking "Finish Setup."

This warning will show up:

Preview your creatives: It’s a good idea to wait 15 minutes after uploading before previewing them in "Ad Creatives" by clicking "Banner Preview." This ensures they display properly and show the message, "Click tracking is working... Will redirect to ad landing page in 3 seconds," when test-clicked..
